That’s where we come in.
WKYC is proud to once again team up with our local United Way chapter for the annual School Supply Fundraiser, a vital campaign aimed at making sure every student, no matter their circumstances, has what they need to learn, grow, and thrive.
This isn’t just about pencils and notebooks. It’s about opportunity. Your donation helps fund everything from essential classroom materials to mental health resources, ESL support for caregivers, and even training for childcare providers. These are the real building blocks of long-term student success.
Why Your Help Matters
Research shows that when kids show up prepared—both mentally and physically—they’re more likely to stay on track academically. Last year alone, United Way programs helped 73% of young kids become kindergarten-ready, 82% of high schoolers graduate on time (far above the national average), and 87% of program participants take their next step—whether that’s a job or college.
That’s impact. And you can be part of it.
Here's How It Works
From July 21 through August 11, we’re asking for monetary donations only. That’s because every community’s needs are different—and cash allows United Way’s local affiliates to purchase the exact supplies and services most needed in their region. All donations are tracked by ZIP code, so your contribution goes directly to help students right here in Northeast Ohio.
Your donation will be put to work fast. Local United Way teams will distribute supplies and services based on school readiness needs, ensuring kids start the year on solid footing.
Make a Difference Today
If you’ve ever dropped off your child or grandchild at school, you know the power of feeling prepared. Let’s give that same confidence to every student in our community.
