Hilary Golston |
WKYC-TV has announced Hilary Golston will be joining the Channel 3 News family this month as a Multi-Media Journalist and Reporter.
Golston comes to northeast Ohio from Birmingham, Alabama, and NBC affiliate, WVTM-TV, where she anchored and reported as part of an Emmy and AP award winning team.
"She’s very excited to help us make positive change and will now be closer to her family in Detroit," WKYC News Director Brennan Donnellan tells the Director's Cut Blog.
During her time at WVTM, Hilary pioneered “Council Extra” - a weekly segment where she brought viewers important breaking stories on Sunday night. She’s covered all sorts of political stories from complex multi-million dollar bond measure referendum to the arrest and indictment of government officials. She also reported on the worst tornado outbreak in the history of the Alabama that killed hundreds of people and destroyed thousands of homes and buildings in that state.
And she’s no stranger to a strong sports culture. Hilary also pitched-in to anchor sports reports during the weekend evening shows.
In her free time, Golston loves community service that organically fits with her passions. She served on the board of the American Diabetes Association of Alabama and participated in a school-year long program aimed at improving literacy. She’s also a fan of volunteering to emcee local community events and can’t wait to get involved in Cleveland.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the George Washington University in Washington D.C. and loves politics. Golston started her TV career at WFRV-TV, the CBS affiliate in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and appeared on Fox Sports Network in Detroit, her hometown, as an intern for a high-school sports show before she graduated from college.
Hilary's a trained Suzuki pianist, a craft she studied for more than 8 years.
Her first day at Channel 3 will be April 14th.
