John started at the station 51 years ago - an unbelievable 5 decades in this business! Over those years, John worked in a variety of jobs beginning with his duties in radio where he worked alongside a number of big name stars.
Over the years, John received a number of awards for his work and was inducted as a Silver Circle member into the National Television Academy of Arts & Sciences, Great Lakes Lower Chapter, in the class of 1996 along with Clifford Adkins, Alan Bush, Jenny Crimm, Charles E. (Bud) Ford and Joe Mosbrook.
All of us wish John a happy retirement!

A long, long time ago I was involved in a children's theater production that was taped at the old WKYC studios on East 6th. I remember seeing John Marinko's name in the closing credits way back then. It's clear that he really put his heart into his work to have done this for so long. I'm sure he'll be sorely missed.

I had the pleasure and privilege of working with John for many years, editing promos for the station in the wee hours of the morning when the facilities were available. John has a quick and talented eye and his abilities and dedication to doing a great job went a long way in making my job easier. I hope John spends the next 51 years doing exactly what he wants to do, when he wants to do it. The best of everything to you, my friend.

There were many a late night working on my school projects (remember growing beans in jello??)and now my kids (Flat Emma loves the day she spent at WKYC). We are excited for him as he starts this new phase of life!!! Great job Dad!!
