On this night, the council turned the tables on Tom, who is set to retire at the end of the month. Beres received a standing ovation by the council for 44 years of reporting, 37 of them at WKYC Channel 3. But the best was yet to come. Mayor Frank Jackson and council members announced that the section of Lakeside Avenue outside of the WKYC Channel 3 studios will be known as, "Tom Beres Way."
