Former Channel 3 Anchor To Run for 17th District House Seat

Special to the Director's Cut By Tom Beres, Channel 3 Senior Political Reporter CLEVELAND -- Former Channel 3 anchorman Tim White has filed to run for the 17th House District seat. That's the seat now held by Josh Mandel who is running as the Republican candidate for State Treasurer. White left Channel 3 in December, 2008. He has homes in Pepper Pike and Wyoming. He is running as a Democrat. Some people found that surprising. White said, "Think blue dog." If he stays in the race, he will face Democrat Kellie Perk in the May 3 primary. Republican Marlene Anielski and Libertarian David Macko are also running for the seat.

Behind the Scenes: WKYC Foodbank Promo Shoot

We had a chance to grab the flip cam this afternoon between my regular tapings to grab some video of WKYC anchor Tim White recording a promo in the studio for our Food Drive on Thursday, October 2nd from 5 AM until 7:30 PM at the WKYC studios. Videographer Steve Pullen was behind the camera as "one take" Tim made it look so easy.

Get to Know Team 3: Tim White

Every once once in a while, I get the courage to go up to one of our main anchors and ask if they could let me ask them a mix of serious and zany questions about their work at Channel 3. This time around, I chose our main male anchor, Tim White. He's not only a good friend to me, but his military duty has been an inspiration to us all over the year here at WKYC. Therefore, I hope you enjoy a little look up close and personal with Tim. Question: You started your career in radio at the age of 14 in your hometown city of Clare, Michigan, doing high school news. Can you remember what you were thinking when the on-air light went on that very first time? Tim: I was all of 14 and a freshman in high school when I did my first radio show. The town had one small radio station that was on the air from sun up to sun down. I talked my way into the job of being the "high school reporter". I wasn't sure what that meant, but I wrote out about 10 pages of notes on a yellow leg...

News: New Segment on Channel 3 News at 7

The manufacturing business in Cleveland and Northeast Ohio is thriving, contrary to today's headlines. WKYC's Tim White is finding those local success stories and bringing them to NE Ohio audiences every other Thursday night at 7 pm in a new series called "Home Made." Beginning this week, on Thursday, October 18th, Tim starts off the series with the story of RPM, a fast growing company in Medina, which makes everything from DayGlo paint to Bondo. "We have great manufacturing business stories in NE Ohio," added Tim, "it's time we recognized the value of services and products that are home made. I think our audience will be very interested in these successes right here in our backyard. We'll also put additional information on wkyc.com and include longer segments and special features."
