3News assignment editor Lisa Lowry inducted into Press Club of Cleveland Hall of Fame

Special to the Director's Cut Blog from wkyc.com For more than 30 years, Lisa Lowry has made sure that our anchors and reporters at 3News are covering the stories that matter most to Northeast Ohioans. Thursday night, our longtime assignment editor was honored by the Press Club of Cleveland with induction into their Journalism Hall of Fame. The festivities were held at LaCentre Conference & Banquet Facility in Westlake. WKYC Anchor Russ Mitchell Honored As 2017 Inductee Into Press Club of Cleveland Hall of Fame

Russ Mitchell Special to the Director's Cut Blog By: Dave "Dino" DeNatale Being inducted into the Press Club of Cleveland Hall of Fame after being in the area for only six years might seem out of the ordinary.  But then again, Russ Mitchell is no ordinary journalist. Thursday night, the WKYC Channel 3 anchor and managing editor will be a part of a Hall of Fame class that will include Joe Frolik, Janet Macoska, David Molyneaux, Carol Story, and former WKYC reporter Joe Mosbrook. Tom Moore of radio station WTAM 1100 will receive the 10th annual Chuck Heaton Award. The event will be held at LaCentre Conference & Banquet Facility in Westlake. WKYC Honored With 3 Major Press Club of Cleveland Awards

Channel 3 News at 11 pm was honored tonight as "Best Television Newscast in Ohio in a Major Market" from the Press Club of Cleveland at their annual awards ceremony. The station also received a first place finish for best television news website ( wkyc.com ) and a first place finish for on-going coverage of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in July 2016. WKYC's Russ Mitchell Kicks Off Press Club Of Cleveland's 125th Anniversary

The Press Club of Cleveland is hosting a meet-and-greet luncheon with WKYC's lead 6pm and 11pm anchor, Russ Mitchell, on Friday, February 24. The event, "Meet Russ Mitchell -- From CBS to Cleveland," will take place at the Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Cleveland from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Most recently, Russ was anchor of the CBS Evening News weekend editions and The Early Show on Saturday and served as a national correspondent for CBS News Sunday Morning, the CBS Evening News, and The Early Show. He joined the WKYC staff on January 16. With a special introduction by WKYC-TV 3 News Director Rita Andolsen, Russ will discuss his decision to leave the network and move to Cleveland and local television news. News: WKYC Assistant News Director Named to Board of the Press Club of Cleveland

Congratulations to WKYC Assistant News Director Howard Fencl for his recent appointment to the Board of Directors for the Press Club of Cleveland. The Press Club of Cleveland unites news-breakers and news-makers through a variety of social and educational activities. By becoming a member, you will have opportunities to make friends and business contacts, as well as to participate in the annual Excellence in Journalism Awards. Howard tells the Director's Cut Blog that he is excited about his appointment, "and that going forward I'd like to expand membership to embrace new media." Howard has been Assistant News Director since September 2007 and just finished up graduate work at Hiram College earlier this spring as he keeps his hand in education, as well.
